Stop with the tennis shoes….

We were out for dinner the other night at The Wild Ginger.  If you live in Seattle you know about this restaurant.  Trendy, consistent, Asian cuisine.  I’m no foodie, but I love that I’m never disappointed in my meal and I love the atmosphere.  Speaking of atmosphere, did I mention that it’s a beautiful restaurant, white table cloths, the works?

So what is it that makes people think that on a Saturday night, they can wear college sweatshirts and tennis shoes?   I really don’t get it.  I often hear that people want to be comfortable and I get that.  But come on.  You can be comfortable but NOT wear tennis shoes.

Here are some options I came up with.  I chose all flat (or almost flat) boots/shoes that would be comfortable because I know that is the issue.  Some of these could be men or women’s boots.  Yes, I’m talking to both men and women here!

Over Our Heads

Living in Seattle generally means rain and a lot of it.  When people come to visit they often ask where the umbrella is.  Truth is, “real” Seattleites don’t use umbrellas.  That may all change when you check out this fun site Over Our Heads.  It’s a custom umbrella site that says it’s for “happy people”.  We could all use a little happy in the winter in Seattle.  The site allows you to create your own umbrella using your own design or order one off the site.  It’s not inexpensive but if you are looking for a little happy, this might be for you!

As promised, the second Allison Becker necklace!

My other necklace arrived this week in the middle of the snowstorm and what a piece of sunshine in a crazy weather week.  Check it out below.  I have to be honest, I’m not a big “hearts” fan in general.   But when I met with Allison and told her I really wanted a darker color, like a brownish quartz, she knew exactly what I wanted.  Something with a bit of an edge but still beautiful, almost fanciful.  What I really love is that the flip side of it is also really great.  See for yourself!

Ready for the Snow and Looking Good

There are lots of ways to approach the snow and weather this winter.  AND still look good while doing it.  I’ve come across a couple of great boots.  One for a full on snow storm and another for rain, snow, whatever.  Both from Timberland.  Check them out.

Shoes of Prey

If you love shoes, and who doesn’t, this site might interest you.  I came across this site last year and then was reminded about it when I picked up the February Oprah Magazine.

Here’s the deal:

The website Shoes of Prey is a “create your own” shoe site.  Choose your style, size, colors, etc and then check it out on a 360 camera before you plop it into the cart and hit BUY.  Don’t love them?  Yes, you can return them.

Here’s an example of what I came up with.  You’ll see the little dots included in the picture.  When you are creating your own, those dots will guide you through the process.  Give it a try!

Patricia Loves Glassybaby

My newest fashion love has nothing to do with clothing and everything to do with environment.  Glassybaby, a Seattle based, women owned company is my favorite new obsession.  More than just a candle holder, a glassybaby can light up your day.  Check out their site, go to their store, see for yourself.  You may soon become a convert… like me.

Need Reading Glasses?

How to look younger and more hip even when you can’t see what’s in front of you anymore?  Check out Eyebobs.  I love this site and I love these reading glasses.  They call themselves irreverent eyewear but it’s much more.  If you’ve been buying the cheapie drugstore readers, it’s time to take a serious look at Eyebobs.  Yes, they are spendy.  But here’s the deal:  as soon as I spent money on them, I took better care of them.  They became like a pair of glasses that I bought at the optical department (because I did).  And who throws them in a drawer or a bag without putting them in a case?  Not me and hopefully not you.  Anyway, here’s mine but there are a lot of options to choose from.  Next time I might try a crystal frame….hmm.

My Commissioned Piece: Allison Elizabeth Designs

A few blogs ago I told you about Allison Elizabeth Designs.  Well, my first one of a kind piece arrived over the holiday and every time I wear it, I get compliments.  It is original, well designed and beautiful.  I love it.  I wanted you to see it for yourself.  Sometime in the next few days I’ll get another piece from her (which I also ordered) and I’ll show you that as well.  Enjoy!

The New Year

Well after a nice break for the Holidays, I’m back in the swing and hope that you are too!  My Real You How To today is simple. Take some time to be good to yourself.  I”ve noticed that when I get back from a couple of weeks off, I tend to go into a slight panic mode.  What didn’t get done that “should have” gotten done?  What important emails did I miss?  The truth is, most stuff can wait and if it can’t someone will probably pick up the phone and call you.    So, go into the New Year with a fresh start and the outlook to be kind to you.  I’m going to give it a try as well!

Driftwood Consignment Shop

I love this little shop located in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle.  Small, well stocked and relaxing is the way I would describe this space.  The selection is anywhere from Gucci to the Gap and more.  I love the color of the space (reminds me of walking the beach), very calming.  Plus the owner is helpful, low key and knowledgeable.  It ranks at the top of my consignment shop locations.   Driftwoodconsignment.com
